Aït Bougmez “Happy Valley” Villages & Culture – 4 days

After breakfast, you hike through barley fields and walnut groves before climbing to the conical hill of Sidi Moussa. On top sits a fortified communal granary (agadir), once used to protect grain and family treasures. The 360° view from here is spectacular: green fields stretch below, framed by red cliffs and white peaks. After a picnic lunch, descend through small villages where women bake bread in clay ovens and children play in the alleys. Overnight in a gîte.

Today you leave the main valley to explore the Arous Valley, a side valley lined with juniper and poplar trees. The trail climbs gently to a balcony path with sweeping views, before dropping to a small waterfall (spring season). Lunch by the river, then continue through hamlets with stone houses and animal pens. Return in the afternoon to your gîte, with an optional hammam visit in the village.

A short morning walk takes you to a site of dinosaur footprints, fossilized in the rock millions of years ago. It’s a favorite stop for children and geology enthusiasts. After a picnic, say goodbye to the Happy Valley and drive back to Marrakech, arriving late afternoon.
